I am a mid-life woman who used therapy to understand myself and make change.
I have wanted to be a counsellor since my mid-20s, but pushed it away so that I could live according to my scripting. Through therapy I learned to listen to the part of me that was telling me what I really wanted, even if it didn’t seem logical - and now I encourage others to do the same.
Over time, I realised that it was okay for me to reject rules that I’d previously lived by and that it was possible for me to consciously curate the life I now lead, down to the smallest detail. I learned that I didn’t have to be a perfectionist, and I learned more about my brain processes, which led to an ADHD diagnosis. I am able to live better now that I understand and accept the way my brain operates.
I have had a 20-year career in secondary school teaching and many of my clients have been professionals from the education sector. I am also “one child by choice” and have a particular interest in women grappling with the pressure to have multiple children when they know that what’s best for them is to have just one, or even none.
I enjoy helping couples at my Aldridge sanctuary find their way back to each other through learning to communicate openly and clearly, with understanding and compassion. At my Birmingham clinic in the Jewellery Quarter, I offer psychoeducation and deep self-awareness with a gorgeous city view.
Overall, my life satisfaction has improved considerably thanks to the years of psychotherapy I have invested in, and still commit to. Alongside this, I make physical health choices and engage in body and mind practices that allow me to be the intellectually sharpest and focussed therapist I can be for you.
