I believe in treating our minds like we treat cars for MOTs - it’s probably fine, but check in, just in case.

Therapy can be an integral part of one’s self-care routine just as much as the gym and the hairdresser. You can vent, access long-suppressed emotions, say the otherwise unsayable, work towards specific goals, laugh, cry and try out new ways of being in relationship. People often come to me and get more than they expected to - apprehension at the outset of therapy soon turns into wanting to tell everyone they know how great it is!

I offer a free initial one-hour “Connection Before Counselling” session, so that you can tell your story and for us to see if we connect well. In this session I can also tell you more about the process and what you can expect during therapy. We will also go through the practical aspects of our sessions together, such as what day and time we will meet, and how often. I offer this free of charge because it’s important that you have enough time to decide whether I am the right therapist for you: it is the relationship between counsellor and client that is the strongest indicator of success.

Thereafter, my standard rate for sessions is £65 (individuals and couples, one hour); however if this is not affordable for you we can discuss this during the trial session - I sometimes have spaces available for low-cost counselling. I can see you at my main therapy space in Aldridge (Wed-Sun), at the JQ Wellbeing Centre in Birmingham (Tues) or online (Tues-Sun). This fee includes not only my commitment to offering you the highest quality therapy I can provide, but time spent considering your case between sessions, including during clinical supervision and the reassurance of a therapist who is a member of two professional organisations (UKCP and UKATA). If you are visiting me at my Aldridge clinic you will also be offered a hot or cold drink on arrival!
